Counting Down to Next Generation Leadership Conference
ACMA and the Alliance for Innovation are excited to announce that there are nearly 120 registrants signed up for the inaugural Next Generation Leadership Conference!

The Next Generation Leadership mini-conference provides an afternoon experience for local government professionals who might not have the time or resources to attend a multiday conference. Read more
ACMA Mentoring Program Seeks New Participants
The ACMA Mentoring Program will begin its second year and is currently looking for new participants!

The ACMA Mentoring Program is meant to develop partnerships between local government executives and entry to mid-level professionals. The mentoring relationship will allow knowledge, information, and skills to be shared that will foster professional and personal growth. These discussions are confidential, and will not be mentioned to anyone else unless mutually agreed upon by both the mentor and mentee. Read more

Why did you decide to pursue a career in local government?
I enjoy serving the community and local government provides me an opportunity to dedicate my profession to an organization that serves the community. Over the last fourteen years I have been able to provide support services to the City of Mesa through involvement in preparing and tracking budgets for some of the largest and most complex departments, working as an integral team member to develop long-term capital improvement projects with an understanding of how impact fees and enterprise funds may be used to help fund essential city services. Additionally, I have been part of department management teams to support departmental visions and goals. Read more

As a professional in local government for 16 years, it is important to continue to pursue top quality education and progressive information regarding all facets of what it takes to be an effective and productive leader for the community in which I work, play and live. This year I was awarded the opportunity to participate in the ICMA Credentialed Manager Program which allowed me to gain several perspectives on the type of leader that I have emerged into and identified not only my strengths, but also areas where there was room for improvement. This Digital Document presents some of the best current examples of local governments exhibiting transparency to the public through the use of dashboards. This is a great example of how local governments are increasingly using "open-gov" concepts to be more accountable to the people they serve.
